I am a recent graduate from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, with a BS in Business Administration - International Business and a focus in Chinese. Because this program is relatively new, a degree in International Business required multiple Finance courses, which allowed me to learn many advanced statistical and mathematical concepts. In these classes, I often assumed an informal tutor role and helped my fellow students understand difficult points. In addition, I trained new employees during my tenure as Lab Manager of a campus computer lab.
I like to teach by using examples (as many as it takes) and by breaking down difficult concepts into relevant, manageable information for the person I'm assisting. My experience, specifically within the past two years, has been extensive. During this time spent at Webster University I was hired by the Student Literacy Corps, a non-profit organization funded by the university for the purpose of educating students in the St. Louis Public School District in English and writing. In addition to experience in the classroom in developing and implementing lesson plans and developing interpersonal skills with children of many ages, I also studied subjects such as calculus, astrophysics, South African history, and music theory. My experience in school has made me a well-rounded academic, and my experience outside of school has made me a well-rounded educator.
