I am in my last quarter at Cal Poly State University and will be finished taking all my classes on March 18th, 2010. I am getting a BA in Business with a concentration in finance. For my senior project, I am taking the first exam of the CFA (chartered financial analyst) program, which covers a broad amount of material including economics, financial accounting, statistics, portfolio management, asset valuation, fixed derivatives, alternative investments, and corporate finance. I like to teach my students giving them real examples of the topic viewed in class that day. I give them all the tools and information needed and then try to ask questions in regard to the topic and create a more interactive environment where they can feel free to ask and participate. Some times I bring them up front to resolve mathematical problems or just for their seats to come up with the answer. Then I assigned a homework.I like to alternate giving individual and other time group homework, this last one more complex. My teaching style is hands on. I give hints and partial answers in an effort to encourage students to think through problems and attempt to solve them. If necessary, I separate an idea into simpler terms, and help students learn each term before continuing. I give examples which illustrate a point or demonstrate a procedure. At times, my students write short essays, which I critique for sentence structure, word choice, tense matching, and organization. When a student is reading aloud, I follow along, interjecting if necessary with the correct pronunciation or the proper syllable emphasis.
