Excellent English Student, Looking to help others excel

The teaching style that I use has been my method of learning for the past twenty years. Memorization, creativity, and fun all help people learn better. When the work is boring, the mind shuts down and gets distracted. When learning is turned into fun, it is a lot easier for the student to remember everything that they were taught, because they can correlate that specific moment in time with what was being taught.
I have always been an excellent English student, including reading, grammar, spelling, and writing, to name a few. All throughout grades school, I received exceptional grades, especially in language arts and English. I have received awards recognizing my writing, speaking, spelling, and grammar. I take education very seriously and I like to instruct others so they, too, can be all that they can be in life.

I am working on a master's degree in communication.

I have home schooled my step daughter and a friends daughter for the last couple of years. I graduated with high honors (Alpha Sigma Lambda, Magna Cum Laude from Drury University. 1) Give the person you are turtoring an opportunity to tell you where they are having a problem. 2) While working through problems monitor the person you are tutoring to see if there are other problems. 3) Suggest changes. Never force them. There isn't one correct way. Make a suggestion on how to improve and explain why you are making the suggestion. 4) Do multiple versions of a similar problem. The first time I will complete the problem, explaining each step. The next time the person I am tutoring will guide me through the problem, telling me what to do next. Then the person being tutored will do the problem while I observe. 5)Let them make mistakes. Explain why it is a mistake and show them how to detect it in the future.
