A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching career has been devoted to helping individual students achieve their potential. I have taught struggling students at all grade levels. As a reading teacher, I diagnosed each student’s strengths and weaknesses. I then tailored instruction to meet each student’s needs. I have also been a Learning Disabilities teacher in a small community. This gave me the experience of teaching a wide variety of subjects to students in elementary through high school. My teaching experience includes teaching English to students who came to school speaking another language. I have tutored both English as a second language and Spanish for five years to high school, middle school and college level students. I also have experience working with children with mental disabilities. I hold a bachelor degree of Arts and Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in English, Spanish and sociology from the University of Missouri. In addition to this skill, I have a TEFL certificate, which has involved me going to an adult literacy center for English, where I teach my own native language. I have experience in tutoring children in Spanish, and tutored a young girl, Kristine, in Spanish as a beginning speaker. Tutoring someone in Spanish is not only very fun but also more accessible.
