A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently a high school junior. That being said, I do not have a degree. However, I am in the top 20% of my high school class, I take only honors classes, and actually learn the material so I can tutor a student who needs help. I would love to help any child or student who is wanting to excel in their studies. (:
I would describe my teaching style as friendly. I try not to give off so much of teacher-student type atmosphere, because many children get discouraged and are not as comfortable and not as willing to learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

My first tutoring experience was in my freshman year of college. I tutored basic college algebra and calculus. Having earned two bachelor degrees in both math and physics. I feel I have a good understanding of not only the theory but also the applications of math to science. Tutoring both privately and publicly has also increased my speaking and presentation abilities. I have also tutored test taking strategies for the SAT, ACT, and GRE. In my years tutoring I have tutored middle school through graduate level courses. I also have taught adult students at the community college level.
I love learning math and science and I enjoy sharing the same love of learning with my students. I like seeing the look on their face when they really get it! Students requiring tutoring are sometimes in academic distress and have anxiety therefore I have a more easy going and patient style of tutoring ... read more

The best way to describe my teaching style is to find a creative way to remember material. For example, I have a child that had to memorize his prepositions. We made up a song that included them all, in order. It turned out to something like this....ABOARD a ship AS we were traveling ABOUT eight knots, etc. This style was very effective for memorizing. For subjects that require more understanding than memorizing, I prefer my "teach and try" method. This means that I go through multiple problems with a student explaining the steps involved. Then, I set-up a mock test to test their abilities solo. I therefore can grasp their understanding and pinpoint their weaknesses.
I have recently graduated from North Carolina State University with a BS in Biological Sciences with a minor in Genetics. During college, I taught/tutored 7th graders at a local middle school in the areas of math and s ... read more

I believe that every student is capable of learning, but that each one of them learns in a different way. Moreover, I thoroughly enjoy working with children one-on-one, so that I may teach to their primary way of learning. In addition, I pride myself on being patient and considerate when working with children who are having difficulty grasping the key concepts. Furthermore, I utilize many memory and teaching techniques, so that all students may understand the important characteristics of the subject matter they are trying to comprehend.
As a student, I was very driven to achieve a high level of excellence and by doing so I received a 3.9 G.P.A. in my Masters program. Also, during my time in my Masters program, I was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi and Kappa Delta Pi. My Masters is in Education with my specialization area being mathematics. More About This Tutor...

I graduated from Wayne State University in 2009 with a B.S. In Education. I am dual state certified in Elementary Education and Middle Grades Science in the states of North Carolina and Michigan. I have a full year of teaching experience and have worked with small groups from grades 2-5 in Reading and Math. I have also tutored at a local day care for a year as well.
I believe that all students have the ability to learn and succeed. I believe that learning is not an option for students. I also believe that children learn through inquiry. Students also learn through their different intelligences and I employ these strategies in order for ALL students to learn in their intelligence or intelligences.

A Little Bit About Me...

Both of my parents were teachers so it is in my blood. I am a firm believer in finding the right way to convey information to anyone, especially your student. My goal was always to confer the desire to learn no matter the subject. I remember the teachers who were passionate for their subjects and seek to emulate their expertise as much as possible in an environment that holds that students can learn pretty much anything they put their mind to.
I began tutoring formally in high school for sibling's friends who needed assistance in all subjects. When the opportunity arose to help my alma mater, I took the change to teach debate, public speaking, political science, and advise college level students. I've tutored students in English as I was former major in college as well as nearly every social science subject you can think of. I've also taught multiple sections of study skills cours ... read more

As a teacher, I care about students. I believe that positive encouragement is the way to motivate. I worked as a private/public school teacher to provide each student that I worked with the academic/social support that was needed. I used my background in child development to motivate students to work to their potential. I have worked with students from a variety of ethnic/social backgrounds who had a wide range of ability levels. My goal was to meet the needs of the individual learning style of each student. I have tried to make a difference in the lives of children and have them move to the next level of learning, not only with the concepts and knowledge that was necessary, but with a love of the learning process.

My experience in teaching in the the ESL adult learning education, college secretarial courses and Junior HS all subjects. I enjoyed the thrill of teaching beginning students and student that needed to improve skills for the jog market. I was responsible for assessments, lesson plans, daily and weekly exams. The most important part of teaching is building a students self esteem in challenging subjects and allowing some self directed assessments.
I do believe that everyone has a different way of learning. Some students need more visual instruction, especially the younger learner or the learner that may have been away from school for a period of time. Some like to work on their own but be guided by instruction, review, question and answer and timed testing to insure that they have mastered a lesson. I do enjoy taking the individual time to talk to students and find out what makes th ... read more
