Spelling is one of my top subjects! Because I used phonics to teach all four of my children to read, they have all become good spellers. I used Spelling Power which is a program good for ages K-12 and I would probably use it to help tutor your child as well. I have also used it to instruct a dyslexic adult reader and another adult learner whose first language is Chinese.

I have home schooled four children ( two of whom were foreign speaking adopted from Russian) through 12th grade. All four are now in college. Have a graduate degree in library science, the conservation of research materials and fine arts. Can tutor in elementary math through Algebra I, reading and phonics, drawing and painting and grammar and writing.

A Little Bit About Me...

My experience as a teacher has nurtured within me a deep respect for children as thinkers, and ultimately "real" people. In my position at Spence's Farm, I was responsible for a group of 5-8 year olds. I enjoyed being with kids, who inspired me to observe and innovate, two talents that I had to perfect in order to develop fun and effective lesson plans and field trips. I also observed that childhood play and learning are interconnected fundamental ways. Excited at this discovery, I searched out other teaching opportunities. I later provided weekend childcare for various children under the age of thirteen, and also began to help out at my temple Sunday School as they learned dance, put on theatrical plays and told stories.
