I enjoy teaching anyone regardless of his or her age and level of education. Patience and creative presentation are qualities that help me observe a student’s approach to learning and give them an understanding of how to complete a task. I have found that often students’ difficulties are overcome by working through the problems together, explaining ideas in multiple ways until the student is confident in his or her understanding of the idea. When students are more visual I try to use photos or stories to explain concepts. However, when students learn better by reading I allow them to do so, and discuss the reading after they have had time to absorb the information. I feel like I have to adjust to each student's individual learning style when trying to teach. I am currently working towards my Masters Degree in School Counseling and work as an intern at McCaskey High School.
