A Little Bit About Me...

I have enjoyed teaching children since an early age. In high school, I started my own dance studio. I also began piano lessons in my home as well. During college i studied piano, voice and dance and continued teaching in these areas. I love helping others succeed and seeing them accomplish their goals.

My very first year of teaching was at the Lehigh Valley Performing Arts High School, and I also taught for two years at Northern Lehigh High School. My undergradute years at Kutztown University have truly prepared me to be an educator. I earned a BS in education with a specialization in English. This degree has given me a great "bag of educational tricks." In other words, I am well versed in different teaching strategies for all learning styles. A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently back in the Reading area after completing two years with Teach For America on Chicago's Southside. While there, I taught 9th Grade English/Test Prep and 6th Grade writing, which I loved! Two years ago, I graduated from Barnard College, which is the undergraduate women's college of Columbia University in New York. During my time in New York, I tutored many young children in English/writing and French conversation and grammar.Because of my content area, my tutoring strengths are English, writing, test-prep and grammar work. A Little Bit About Me...

I like to implement a variety of different strategies in order to keep students interested in the material. These strategies include discussions, projects, writing assignments, etc. I also believe that enthusiasm, no matter what the subject, is the key to keeping students interested. If you are boring, they will be bored, so I try to keep my lessons and my classroom lively. I also like to implement differentiated instruction, because I believe what works for one student will not necessarily work for another. By using differentiated instruction, I can see my students excelling at the subject matter in ways they feel comfortable.
