If I am tutoring a young person I contact the teacher so that I can find out what areas the student needs review in. Many times the teacher will give me the resources and materials to use. Also, I like to use the guide books for each grade that are sold in stationary areas of most stores. For tutoring in reading I've found the Leapfrog Reading Program is very helpful. I like to meet my students at the library so that I can use the resources found in the library, including the computer. Many times I use educational games because are very useful tools in learning, and they are fun.

After graduating from Ithaca College cum laude, I completed my B.S. in Speech Language Pathology in 2 and 1/2 years. I was a business major my freshman year at Siena College and realized I would rather be working to help others then sitting at a desk for the rest of my life. I have volunteered in a kindergarten classroom for one year, working with groups of 4-5 children in learning centers. I have provided speech therapy for two clients under the age of 8 during my clinical practicum in Spring 2009 at the Sir-Alexander Ewing- Ithaca College Speech and Hearing Clinic. I have taught now for 5 years. 6th grade for 2, 5th grade for 2, and tutored as well as substitute taught for several districts in the area. I recently graduated from SUNY Oswego with a MSed in literacy, grades B-6 and have a BS in childhood education. A Little Bit About Me...

I can identify and help students with learning disabilities because I myself have a learning disability. Although I myself was considered to be a slow learner and I had (and still have) dyslexia, I never the less taught myself how to study and how to get through high school, college, and graduate school.
