I think lots of modeling and review of the concepts being taught is essential. I want the student to observe the modeling and then for me to guide them through the learning of the concepts. Students should be fully engaged in order to gain a full understanding.
I have been tutoring all subjects K-8 for over 15 years. I am a certified teacher and currently teach 6th grade. I worked at Sylvan Learning Center for over a year before becoming a private tutor. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas with a degree in Communications (emphasis in Journalism) along with minors in Religion and Youth Ministry. While in college, I was a member of the yearbook staff as well as serving as an editor in various capacities for the newspaper. I also was selected by my newspaper advisor to serve as a writing mentor for a United Methodist publication. Throughout my academic career at Southwestern, I regularly was approached by my peers to edit their essays and offer any guidance or suggestions to improve their assignment.
