My comments on tutoring Statistics : Especially experienced explaining basic statistical concepts to students who typically struggle with math.

Patient and encouraging. I usually like to summarize the material and give a bit of context and work through an example. Then, I like to have the student work out an example independently and we go over it. While going over it, I asked them to explain the steps and their thought process. Generally, I like to ask the student(s) lots of questions so that I can see that they know what they're doing and why they're doing it.
During undergraduate, I tutored several of my classmates in different chemistry and math courses. Additionally, I've had the pleasure of being a teaching assistant for 2 years for undergraduate statistics. I have a bachelors degree in mathematics which I just recently completed in May of 2015 from Binghamton University. I tutored at the university for 2 years in trigonometry and calculus 1. I would say that the greatest personal attribute that the Lord has given me when it comes to teaching is patience. I allow the student the time that it takes them in order for them to "get it" without pressuring them. I also like to make the material as simple as possible by teaching in a manner where I like to emphasize understanding as opposed to just being able to do it. As a training manager, I often taught classes to large groups of individuals on subjects such as statistics, Microsoft Office programs, and teamwork, problem solving and quality concepts. Further, as an engineer, I did a lot of one-on-one teaching of job instructions and job changes. I further informally taught other engineers how to perform different tasks in Word and Excel.
