I have a love for learning and teaching!

I have been teaching special education for six years. I taught special education to kindergarten through third grade in a Montessori school for four years. I have experience in teaching students with disabilities in reading, writing, and math. Many of my students have also been diagnosed with ADHD/ADD, autism, learning disabilities, and emotional impairments. I am currently teaching my second year at a center-based school for autism. My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : My cousins have ADD/ADHD and I have helped them with their school work as well.

My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : 2-3 years as a substitute teacher.

I started out tutoring elementary students in basic math and English grammar while I attended college part time in the 1980's. I continued tutoring young students and adults in the 1990's, tutoring Basic Math, Basic and Intermediate Algebra, Basic Geometry, English Composition, Speech, Study Skills and the Sciences. In addition, tips were given to enhance test-taking skills in hard-to-Ace subjects like Economics. I have tutored for the Sickle Cell Organization in 2001, helping students catch up numerous missed assignments. I tutor when the opportunity presents itself. Teaching mainly K-8 on a consistent schedule, I have learned that some students need one-on-one teaching. Being the third teacher in Head Start, I had time to work with individual students. All children were very well prepared for kindergarten. The older children, including High School and Middle School, I would walk around the room and aide them when they were confused.
