Once in a classroom I realized that I was meant to teach. I love working with students who are challenging and those who challenge me. I believe that I can become a better teacher only by continually challenging myself and my students. The key phrase “engaging students” seems less than what is required in the classroom. I want my students to be engaged but I want them to encompass and enjoy what they are doing as well. I taught Office Technology to adults for ten years. I have been subbing K-6 for the past two years in local school districts. Adult educations consisted of computer applications, business math and English, filing, and job search skills. Now I work with kids who have difficulty in a traditional setting.
My teaching style is one on one with students making continuous progress at their own paces. I love to work with elementary students aged ten and under. Working with non-tradionat students was fun and challenging. I had to relate to them differently (of course) from the younger kids.
