A Little Bit About Me...

While at Springfield College I started tutoring some of my fellow students in the areas of math and science for a little extra cash. I have always wanted to mimic the kind of tutoring I received as a struggling math student in middle school. I was never the best at math until I started to receive tutoring and everything started to click. The extra help I got in math was essential to my studies at the university level and all my previous coursework leading up. I want to be that tutor who helped everything click.
When I tutor I try and understand where they are having trouble and try to find the best way of explaining in a way that is beneficial to the student.

I have worked as a tutor for 5 years. I worked as a volunteer peer tutor at my high school throughout my time there and fell in love with it. I am now a freshman at Saint Louis University majoring in biology on a pre-medical track. I have tutored in a variety of subjects ranging from biology, zoology, algebra 1, algebra 2 and chemistry to english and composition.
I am a huge supporter students tutoring students. I have found that working with students helps to take down a barrier between the tutor and tutee. I truly enjoy helping children reach their full potential. I believe that children who don't understand a subject just haven't had it explained to them in their way of learning and I believe I can find their way. I use patience, understanding, and humor to ease their minds but still am able to convey a sense of high expectation of them. Then, I explain concepts to them in a variety of ways until they can comprehend the subject manner. This includes using diagrams, creating a real-life situations where the concept is applied, drawing analogies that to which they can relate, or developing a game out of the lesson.
