My goal is to enhance the knowledge of children through the implementation of their best learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, or tactile) and to motivate the students to pursue further learning and personal experience in the topic we are studying. I treat my clients with respect and ask for it in return. I am extremely patient with children who struggle with learning and adapt materials, as necessary, for the child/client to learn the most effectively. I have had many years of experience in the classroom, and with many different programs. I also have tutored previously for Sylvan tutoring. I am a Golden Apple Scholar, which is a prestigious award for teaching scholars that I won my senior year of high school. I believe that each child/adult has a learning style unique to them. Finding what works and what makes learning fun, to me, are critical to success, especially to struggling learners. Positive reinforcement and encouragement are critical, as well.
My background includes teaching at the elementary level and at the adult education level, especially literacy. I spent 10 years directing an adult literacy program where I trained volunteers to be tutors and tutored myself. During that time I took an intensive training course on working with people with learning disabilities. I have worked with ESOL students, as well.
