I believe that students should be respected and challenged beyond the usual material they are expected to learn in order to demonstrate proficiency in their coursework. I believe that students learn best by first having their imaginations stimulated and then given concrete examples of the concepts with which they have been presented. A Little Bit About Me...

My background includes teaching at the elementary level and at the adult education level, especially literacy. I spent 10 years directing an adult literacy program where I trained volunteers to be tutors and tutored myself. During that time I took an intensive training course on working with people with learning disabilities. I have worked with ESOL students, as well.
