My comments on tutoring Economics : I have done Micro and Macro economics in collage as part of my core requirement. I have also tutored economics in and out of college.

I am an accountant who has been providing accounting and consulting services to various small to mid-size business clients. I have: ? 15+ years of experience in Accounting, Auditing and Tax ? Adjunct professor: Financial Accounting ? Trained and supervised internal and client’s accounting staffs. ? A masters’ degree in accounting and finance
It can be observed that different students have different learning style. According to the experts, some of these include tactile, visual and auditory. Meeting the needs of all learners is my first and most important objective in teaching/tutoring. Therefore, I have to willing to adjust my teaching style to benefit all students.

My comments on tutoring Economics : (Macroeconomics ONLY)

I'm currently a senior attending Winter Park High School. I have a slew of education and extracurricular related accolades, and have been commended highly for my skills in writing (both creative and professional). My transcript has a long history of Advanced Placement courses and my standardized exam scores are impressive to say the least least (30 ACT, 1800 SAT, multiple AP Exam credits).
I actually don't have much experience as a tutor beyond helping classmates study, however throughout my experience in high school I've experimented with and adopted many avant-garde and unorthodox studying techniques and thought processes that have served gratuitously to my benefit, and I'm positive will serve yours as well.

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY Let me start by saying that in my family we have a lot of teachers, so it runs in my blood?. I teach Economics and Business classes. I have been teaching for the past 13 years so I have plenty of experience. I meet 40 new students a month. I taught for several universities online and on campus. Economics, my favorite course to teach is viewed by many as boring; there are right and wrong ways to approach questions, and finite answers to many questions. Of course, it is far more than that as economics should be viewed as a complex language with many shades of gray that necessitate complex judgment calls. I try to get beyond the procedures. My approach: A positive atmosphere. Students are called upon to discuss questions, but mistakes are treated as opportunities to explore misconceptions, not as a reflection of a student's abilities. A window on the world. ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching has been a source of great pleasure for me. While I was working at regular full-time jobs, I usually had a part-time teaching position. Over a period of 16 years, I have taught more than 50 classes at community colleges, four-year colleges and universities. I also tutored children and high school students, mostly for friends, and mostly for the fun of it. Four of my five children have gone on to engineering or computer science degrees and really love their work. As a manager, I saw myself as a teacher also. I found that an open-minded team approach brings out the best abilities in everyone, when they feel safe to contribute, whether on a work team or in a class room.
In my experience, fear and self-consciousness interfere the most with learning. This seems especially true of arithmetic and higher levels of math. I don't believe that children should force themselves ... read more

I earned my Bachelors of Arts degree while working full time. I also continued to pursue employment that enabled me to work on my own. I have tutored not only my child to become an A/B student but also worked with another student, voluntarily, who was struggling in school. In today's work environment whether you strive to go to college or become a tradesperson your ability to learn is paramount. Having a tutor or coach to assist the student can be a rewarding experience for the student as well as the teacher.
I love the learning process and the excitement of success. I believe that not all students learn the same way and am commited to finding the connection that will make the child that I tutor successful. I live for the "ah ha" moment when we both realize that the information has been learned and retained.

I am a life long learner. I love people (children) and hope to convert them to my quest for knowledge. All students want to learn but need to find out what type of learner they are... visual, audible or kinesthetic. While being patient and persistent, the tudor needs to construct a new understanding by attaching the new to the old. Information (discovery) enters the brain through existing networks and uses it as substrate for new understanding. All children can meet their potential if they are in positive environs where education is stressed as the building blocks to success. As a tutor, one must inspire each student by setting goals and achieving them. Each child is special and must be treated that way in your approach to learning.
I received my MBA in 1983 and started teaching at the college level immediately. I have taught at Brookdale CC and Monmouth University in New Jer ... read more

I believe in "Yes, You Can!", instead of "No, You Can't." Positive reinforcement and an emphasis upon disciplinary "best practices" can fertilize the seeds of personal and academic growth. In particular, I believe in focusing upon HOW a student learns. For instance, if a student learns visually, I like to tailor learning strategies toward that student's strength.
My educational background is stellar. The most important tool that I have acquired during all of those years, however, is NOT memorization, NOT spelling or grammar - it's the ability to THINK. Looking at the "Big Picture" enables me to see beyond the immediate problem, to find long-term, sustainable solutions. This skill extends across disciplines--whether they be English, mathematics, history or Spanish.

At a Wall Street bank, I trained new hires in the proper transmission of Telex and SWIFT messages. I later moved to SR&D as a Programmer Analyst. I worked in the creation and maintenance of programs needed by the bank. For 12 years, I recruited and trained independent salespeople, while conducting my own demonstrations. My income averaged upwards of $50k annually. From 1998 to 2008, I worked in an overnight freight setting as a supervisor where I was responsible for orientation and training of new hires. I reported extensively via email, spreadsheets, and on the ASR 400 system. Currently, I am in the Educator Preparation Institute where I am in the last months of qualification as a Florida "out-of-field" teacher.
I believe that students will be more inclined to pay attention and remember if they are having fun. I try to put some fun in everything I teach. I have designed ... read more
