My comments on tutoring ASVAB : Three years ago I was hired by a company to teach skills for the ASVAB. I really enjoy seeing young men and women achieve their educational goals for entering the armed forces.

I have a student-centered teaching style. That means I see at what level the student is and meet him/her at that level. Then we together move up to where he/she needs to be.
I have taught for many years in all levels of secondary school, alternative schools, and tutoring centers.I eat, sleep, and drink tutoring as I tutor every day during the school year and do lots of research to help my kids in whatever academic subject is causing them difficulty. I began my teaching career for the first five years as a high school English teacher and taught regular college prep English courses.The next five years I taught English at the middle school level.Next, I got married and resigned from teaching when our first child was born. I began working as a Water Safety Instructor when I was 16 and taught swimming to people age 3 to age 76. I worked as a Teacher's Assistant at West Virginia university and taught my own section of a one credit course required of all freshmen students while working on a BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. While working on my MA in English Literature with a Certificate in Folklore at George Mason university, I worked as a substitute teacher and then was hired as a full time middle school English teacher. I have been teaching and counseling special education students for 10 years. While earning my teaching degree, I was employed for 3 years as a paraprofessional and therapeutic staff support specialist. The students I tutored and counseled ranged in age from 9 to 21 years old. For the past 7 years I have been employed part time at an private alternative education school as the special education teacher. The students are in 7th through 12th grade, and they are diagnosed with a need for emotional support. I also work each afternoon as a home school teacher.
