I believe in learning to do things the "hard" way for math, making change, etc. Calculators are good for higher functions and after basics are learned. In January of 2008, I was hired to work at the University of Akron – Wayne College Learning Center as a peer tutor. We are responsible for helping students that come in seeking tutoring (including test preparation and homework help). I believe that each child learn differently, and as such, I have found the best way to teach is to cater to each child's individual learning style.
