My skills improved rapidly when I was called to serve for two years in the deaf community in CA. Just prior I was called to learn this subject and a language learning institute for ten weeks. In the city of Fremont CA was the deaf institute where I labored for nearly two years. Due to its reputation and richness in deaf culture students from all over the world attended this school. I believe that all learning builds upon a foundation of previous learning. The key to helping a student to retain information is to make certain that student possesses all the prior knowledge needed to support the new information. For example, it is very difficult to teach a student the concept of the passive verb voice if that student does not understand the difference between a verb and other parts of speech.
