Providing Tools and Skills for Supreme Success!!

I am not your typical tutor. Rather than doing rote exercises, I focus on methodically helping them develop tools and skills so that they eventually no longer need my services. I do quite a bit of advanced preparation, often with customized activities (that you are typically not charged for) and my time with your child is hands-on and engaging. My style grows their confidence and excitement about the learning process so they can leverage their strengths with new tools and skills to quickly advance beyond any hurdles that have been getting in their way of excelling in school or any specific subject area. I offer a complimentary consultation where ideally we can review work samples / testing results of your child(ren), discuss goals, concerns, etc. and have some time to meet your chid(ren) to learn their personality, interests, preferences and do some quick assessments as to their natur ... read more

I will give my all for you succeed.

To be honest I do not really have any experience of being a tutor. I am a senior at Reagan High school and for the most part I tutor other classmates and family members. Mostly recently I broaden my range to elementary to high school. I do very well in mathematics except for geometry, Pre-cal, abd calculus because i am not registered for those classes. I'm also good in science.
My teaching style varies from student to student. I like to get to know the student in order to maximize their understanding of the subject. Everybody does learn differently, so I am open to change for that said student.

A teacher never stops teaching, and never ceases learning.

I have to first find the learning style of the student. As a teacher, I find that students have diverse ways of learning and that I must adapt my teaching style to their needs. For instance, I have some students who are auditory learners and sometimes retain information more if information is read orally to them. Some students must have a generous amount of explanation as to the content of what he or she is reading while otheers require many visual cues to accompany their learning. It really depends upon the student.

I graduated from Ronald Reagan High School with a 4.6 GPA in the second graduating class ('08), then went on the NC State University to study Engineering, where I jumped in between various Engineering programs for three years before simply deciding to take a break and truly figure out what I want to study. While this may deter several people from choosing me, I know that if you met me and/or any of my teachers from any grade level, they/I could certainly set the record straight, as I am quite a smart person, I have simply struggled with getting my life into an appropriate schedule. This is because between high school, my extra curriculars (captain of the drumline for three years and a captain of the lacrosse team for three years), and my parents, my life was completely structured for me, so what little free time I had was easy to budget, this is not the case in high school. I am always driven to do my very best. This has been indicated as I earned mostly A's in all subjects. I have worked in the business world in marketing and I know the value of education. I have a Masters Degree in Teaching. I am currently an EC teacher. I am shocked at the number of students who do not have the basic skills in reading, writing, math, science and social studies but yet the school system continues to pass them to the next grade without these skills. During the past five years, I have worked as an EC resource teacher in both elementary and middle schools. I am licensed to teach K-12 EC.
I love working with children. I believe that all children can learn, but each child learns in a different way. In order to help a student, you must find out how they learn. You also must find their passion. With this information (passion and learning style), you can help any ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a successful teacher because I not only teach, but I learn through those I am teaching. I have learned to be patient, with patience comes success! Compassion and understanding the struggles of a learner is very important. My teaching style is one of respect for the student, acknowledgement of what the student knows, and using the information as an assessment to advance and scaffold to the next level. My teaching style is unique due to differential instructional training, relating instruction to real world situations/experiences, and the fall and recovery outlook. A student may fall in an academic learning area but it takes a sincere effort on the part of the learner to recover.
