A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned a bachelors degree (BS in Biology) and I have excelled in my classes. I have taken 2 semesters of both general chemistry and organic chemistry. After performing at a high level in these courses, I ended up tutoring students in organic chemistry for about 2 semesters. Since I am currently studying for the MCAT exam (Medical College Admissions Test) my organic chemistry knowledge is fresh.
I am able to effectively relate/teach to people from different age groups, educational backgrounds, etc. My professor/mentor (Dr. Larry Hanne) has complimented on my ability to take complicated or difficult concepts and simplify them and then present them in a understandable way. I also teach students to actively think and challenge themselves academically so they can prosper.

During my time as a student studying Biological Sciences, I encountered varying levels of math and science ranging from statistics to calculus and basic biology to various types of advanced physiology. I have taken the opportunity to tutor fellow classmates and younger students in science through the biological honor society, Omicron Theta Epsilon. I have also tutored children for the past year in science; for the first half of the year I tutored students from grades 3-6, and for the second half I tutored students from grades K-3. In the second portion I also assisted in lab and teaching design.
In teaching, I believe it to be very important to gain the student's interest within the subject matter. With an interest comes greater understanding and retention.
