I obtained Secondary Teacher Certification in Social Sciences. I taught high school and middle school Spanish for two and half years at public schools, and completed my student teaching at an alternative school for juvenile criminals. I was an at home teacher for my school district when children were out for extended periods due to illness. I have completed additional continuing education in working with gifted and special needs children. To me, learning is best exemplified by an engaged and interested student asking informed and critical questions of the material assigned. It was a natural choice for me to major in English when I started my college career. While working on my degree I already knew I wanted to teach, so I began tutoring.
