I have always enjoyed assisting our youth work through various academic endeavors. I have been tutoring grades k-12 for several years now. I have helped all ages with a wide variety of assignments. My teaching style varies based on the age of the student. I like to be a little more animated with my k-6 graders. On the other hand, with my 7-12 graders I focus more so on making a connection with the material--showing them how it relates to them.

As an unerdergraduate at Mississippi State University, I majored in geosciences with and emphasis on forecasting; that is meteorology.I served eight years with the army national guard and completed a year tour of Iraq. While in the national guard I learned valuable leadership skills and how to teach others to preform military tasks. While working on my geosciences degree I took several upper level mathematics courses including trigonometry, college algebra, and calculus. In addition to these courses, I took upper level writing courses such as geowriting and english composition level two. My bachelors degree has taught me much about earth science and minor chemistry. I believe that the most important part of teaching is to find a way to communicate a concept to the individual learner. This may include presenting the concept to the student using several different teaching styles in order to confirm that the learner understands the concept. I have a BS in Microbiology from the University of Alabama which includes Inorganic Chemistry (one year), Organic Chemistry (one year), and Biochemistry (one year) plus associated labs.
