Special Education is one of my top subjects! ADD/ADHD, EBD, LD, ID, ASD, SPD...every single child has different needs, but I am most passionate about working with students who have exceptional challenges and have a lot of experience in many areas.

Let's start out by saying I am definitely not your average tutor! Fun is vital to motivation, and I live on the stuff! I have been teaching for over fifteen years in a variety of environments, working in inclusive environments with children aged birth to twelve. I am now in my second year as a Special Education Teacher at a private school in DC that specializes in working with children who have Learning and Emotional Disabilities. I hold my M.Ed.HD in Special Education from GWU and a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. During the summer, I serve as the Behavior Intervention Specialist for Fairfax County Park Authority in Inclusion camps. Even in high school and college, I tutored peers and proofread papers. Currently, I tutor clients in Clinton, MD twice a week, and in Alexandria twice a week, so I m able to take on clients in/near those locations. In addition to tutoring, I am ... read more

ASL Certified Tutor

I had excelled in my first American Sign Language class in the 10th grade and proceeded to take the progressive courses that my high school offered. I also took a Psychology course and graduated with an Advanced Diploma in 2005. Immediately following graduation, I enrolled at Germanna Community College and became certified in American Sign Language in 2009 and in 2010, became certified as a Paraprofessional Counselor. I've completed a 225 hour internship at the disability Resource Center under the supervision of their Deaf and Hard of Hearing Coordinator. More About This Tutor...

I have worked for one school year as a substitute for both Hanover County and Louisa County, I am Currently employed by Hanover County Public Schools as a teaching assistant while continuing my work on my graduate work. I will still be employed by hanover County Schools for the 2009-2010 School year.
I work well as a one on one special education aide because my attention is soley on the activities and education of my students. I am a laid back worker, and extremely patient because I find that if I allow myself to get out of shape, then I am not an effective teacher and aide, and my students will see this. I strive to be a good role model to them all, even when I may be frustrated but I find constructive ways of venting such as listening to music during class quiet times and taking walks with my students during activity breaks and while they are in PE.
