A Little Bit About Me...

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I have always had a passion for learning and helping others. I was a Honors English student and I have a strong interest in reading and writing. I have worked as a seasonal scorer of standardized assesments for a year. I was an America Reads America Counts tutor for 1 1/2 years. I tutored youth K-12 in both reading and math. I also provided homework assistance with other subjects. During the last 2 1/2 years, I tutored youth residents and program participants in a variety of subjects.

A Little Bit About Me...

While attaining my undergraduate degree, I worked as an intern at Triple Crown Publications doing copywriting, editing and ghost writing work. After graduating from the University of Illinois with a B.A. in Rhetoric & English, I gained a year and a half of experience in the field of Public Relations where I further refined my writing and editing skills. I spent two years as a long term substitute with Columbus City Schools. There I gained first hand experience in creating lesson plans, managing a classroom, creating effective assessments and dealing professionally and appropriately with students, parents and fellow faculty and staff. I have always loved working with young people and helping them achieve their potential. I have worked with mainstream and honors students to behavior disorder and severely cognitively impaired youth. I believe there are no throw-away kids and that given the right environment and opportunities, all students can learn. My goal is to provide the best education possible and make my services become obsolete for each student. I like to assess how students learn best and proceed with that vein of educational style and couple it with projects.
