My comments on tutoring Computer : Training Specialist with extensive experience in teaching Microsoft Office (MSO) Applications in both the federal and private sector. I have over 25 years experience teaching Microsoft applications to high school students, adults, displaced workers, veterans and federal employees.

Since 1985 I have been working in the computer environment. I worked with data processing high school students at the Johnstown Vo-Tech for over 17 years. For the past 11 years I have served as the lead instructor for all MSO training at the National Drug Intelligence Center. I have had an extensive career in business. I have had a number of accounting/finance positions in the business world. My most successful position was with a chain of 30 Hallmark stores. I started as the accountant and eventually became the President of the company. I have had other positions as Controller and Accountants of other businesses.

I prefer to begin by having the student describe the current subject matter to the best of his/her abilities to determine a starting point. I have found that having the student talk through the subject matter can be useful in determining his/her strengths and level of understanding. I like to have the student work through some problems they have not been assigned from their book/notes so that they are able to practice and work through some other problems before attempting any assignments. I have also found that it is useful to go over any previous quizzes or tests related to the current subject matter as difficulties are sometimes related to previous work because with these subjects the work tends to build upon itself.
