My comments on tutoring Continuing Education : dependent on subject matter

Coming from a family of academicians, and a father who has a doctorate in education, I learned to love learning at an early age and have always valued education and try to instill that in others. I am proficient in many areas and work well with all people from all walks of life, at varying levels. My experience comes from being in a helping profession, in which I assisted hundreds of people live up to and achieve their highest potential. Having three children of my own with varying learning styles, as w well as working with other children and adults, enhanced my my ability to understand individuals and how they learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

I worked as a University Lecturer in the University of Yangon, Myanmar from 1977 to 1987. I worked as a private home tutor in Singapore (1992-1993) teaching G.C.E chemistry and elementary subjects and also in Bangkok, Thailand from 1993-1995. I received a certificate of "TESOL-Teaching English to speakers of other languages" in Bangkok. I also worked as a part time instructor in ECC Thailand teaching ESL. I worked as a Business English teacher in Hotel Management School and St. John's College in Bangkok while I was staying there before I came to U.S. in 1996.
Teaching is my passion and I have been always successful in my teaching career helping students with encouragement for their bright future utilizing my teaching skills with loving and kind attitude towards students.

As an university graduate, I was very much driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I love to see the proverbial light come on and the students eyes widen and they say "OH! I get it!" I've tutored a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds. I try to make mathematics fun, like a puzzle to be figured out, and remove the "hard chore" stigma which is generally hard pressed into a students mind by the time I arrive. Getting the student to believe in themselves and believe mathematics isn't a daunting task it's just difficult until you learn the tricks is my goal. I've notice most students find word problems to be most challenging so I purchased a word problem book to draw examples from which seems to help.
Prior to and during my employment with Metropolitan Community College (Between 1998 and 2007) I was a volunteer tutor with non traditional students in the Adult Basic Education/General Education Development ABE/GED program of Metro community college.
