A Little Bit About Me...

I have this love and passion for teaching children with or without disabilities. I believe that if a student wants to learn a subject and is willing to put forth the effort, that student has the tools to succeed. Quite often they just need help in "how" to learn. There are a lot of subjects that are intimidating to students. I like to demystify and simplify the subject so that the student has a greater chance for success.
I currently am a substitute teacher for all grades from 1st grade to high school. I started this avocation after spending 27 years in the Finance and Accounting areas. I have an MBA from the University of Kansas. One of the gifts God has given me is the ability to help others reach their potential. I received my bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I then moved to the University of Kansas where I completed a masters in Biochemistry and Biophysics. During this time I was a graduate teaching assistant for two years. I taught science labs including biochemistry I lab (2 semesters), biochemistry II lab (1 semester), and physiology lab (2 semesters). I also assisted in teaching biochemistry lecture. My degrees show that I have a strong background in science but to be a good biochemist you have to understand many different subjects. My course work for these degrees included many biology, chemistry, and math classes (statistics, algebra, calculus).
