A Little Bit About Me...

I have spent my 13 years as an educator in a variety of capacities. I spent four years as a tutor for an autistic child while I was in school. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in education, I worked for three years as the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade alternative school teacher for the Chandler Unified School District. I then worked part-time as the curriculum writer for a residential alternative facility, also opening and teaching in their middle school program. I love to teach. I have experience with 5-50 years old and, if pressed, could not name a favorite group. I believe that everyone can learn; some of us just process information in different ways. As a tutor it is my job to discover how a student processes information and adapt my lesson to accommodate them. Learning can be both fun and serious, as long as it is productive.

As a student, I had the chance to participate in the Americorps program, where I developed and implemented programs for at-risk youth. My programs encompassed but were not limited to, ecology, animal husbandry, writing, reading, and the arts. Since then I have earned two bachelor's degrees, a BA in Education, and a BA in Elementary Education, with minors in communications and liberal arts.
Teaching comes naturally to me; I believe that everyone has the potential to be successful, given the right opportunity. Persistence, mutual admiration, and effort are the qualities that I bring with me, and they are all that I ask of the students that I work with.
