Through the past ten years in law enforcement I have lead, instructed, and supervised many people. While serving in the military I was afforded the opportunity to attend several institutions such as the University of Chaminade, Wayland Baptist University, and the University of Phoenix. After my separation from the military I attended Central Arizona College and then transferred back to the University of Phoenix. I have experienced several different learning environments and have taken what I found to be positive and tried my best to improve on them.

I earned a teaching degree in Secondary Education in the social studies subject area, after studying at Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon. I have worked for ten years in education, with students as young as infants up to high school seniors, and all in between. For the past six years I have worked with ELL (english as a second language) students on the Navajo reservation and on the Mexican border at Nogales, Arizona. My teaching style is to make sure that those I am helping understand what is being talked about. If they do not, we will keep working at it until clear. Since all teaching ways do not work for all students, I try to figure out what would work best for those I am currently tutoring, so that they will succeed.
I have tutored through the organization Literacy Volunteers in Flagstaff and Lake Havasu. Additionally, I tutored English in a refugee camp in Zambia, when I was with the Peace Corps. While living in Bangladesh, I tutored adults and children in English, as well as other subjects. I taught for three years in Bangladesh at International Turkish Hope School.
