According to me teaching is the process of imparting knowledge or skills. It’s about not only motivating students to learn, but teaching them how to learn, and doing so in a manner that is relevant, meaningful, and memorable. I believe that knowledge should not be imparted to students in a way that is stressful. My teaching style is to make sure that those I am helping understand what is being talked about. If they do not, we will keep working at it until clear. Since all teaching ways do not work for all students, I try to figure out what would work best for those I am currently tutoring, so that they will succeed.
I have tutored through the organization Literacy Volunteers in Flagstaff and Lake Havasu. Additionally, I tutored English in a refugee camp in Zambia, when I was with the Peace Corps. While living in Bangladesh, I tutored adults and children in English, as well as other subjects. I taught for three years in Bangladesh at International Turkish Hope School.
