My studies have given me practical experience working with children of different abilities and readiness. I sincerely believe it is the teacher's responsibility to adapt lessons to the student's learning style. I strive to create connections to student past lessons and keep difficult concepts in easy, relative terms that simplify information for the student to digest. After finishing student teaching, getting certified to teach in Pennsylvania, and graduating from Moravian College, I joined Teach for America and committed two years to closing the achievement gap. I have taught 10th and 11th grade English for two years in Forrest City, AR. I have run after-school ACT prep sessions with my students, and I have worked one on one with them both before and after school hours. All of my lesson plans are objective-based and built with the intent of being both purposeful and rigorous.
