My comments on tutoring Language Arts : Qualified in this subject by WyzAnt. For a six month period I worked with the Department of World Languages at Essex Junction High School as full time substitute teaching English, Latin, French, Spanish and German.

In my teaching, I make every effort to engage the attention of my students. While covering the subject at hand, I bring into my lessons references to a spectrum of other subjects when relevant such as historical context, cultural elements, literary allusions, modern and historical implications and facts and trivia relating to the subject which I believe will not only be of interest to the student but will also provide a more rounded appreciation of the benefits of a wide ranging education.
For the greater part of my life I have been involved in various facets of education. I have acted as substitute teacher at the middle and high school levels for a total of 10 years, 8 of which were spent at 12 schools in Vermont and 2 at 10 schools in Hernando County FL. I held the position of Senior ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) with a highly reputed language school in Vienna ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style focuses on modeled and guided discussions so that students can talk through their understanding so I can remediate and reteach to ensure that they are learning and they find confidence in their learning.
During my undergraduate, I had multiple field studies in middle and high school classes. I also had to tutor elementary students through my college for certain reading classes. During my last semester, I filled a permanent substitute position for 7th grade intensive reading. In the 2022-2023 school year, I taught STEM language arts for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember.I do and I get it.

The experience I have gained while studying Education and Psychology, along with administrating exams for Wonderlic Scholoastic Testing and tutoring has enabled me to learn through understanding, hard work and dedication. I have learned through extensive courses in Psychology on how we learn, education courses that break learning down, and working with children and adolescence for over ten years with tutoring and patience, that with the proper tools and guidance, anything can be achieved.
I believe that implementing the right tools, along with clearly stating what the student needs to learn, along with discussion, will ensure student success.Using multisensory resources, creatively using the newly formed knowledge, along with pre-testing will foster memory and recall.

My comments on tutoring Language Arts : BS/MA Education. Certified Educator. Knowledge of Florida LA curriculum and FCAT format

Helping learners find solutions to their problems is my passion. My greatest strength is compassion. I believe that anyone can achieve. I enjoy helping others discover their innate joy of learning. I thrive on seeing the "light" in a learner's eyes. It drives me with a determination to find the best way to help each individual become a lifelong learner.
I was a teaching assistant throughout high school. I graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi. Language Arts is one of my top subjects!

Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.
After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.

Patient, Engaging, Effective Tutor

I have tutored students in many subjects, including language arts, math, science, and reading. I have worked with students under NCLB and with FCAT (Florida's Comprehensive Assessment Test program). Some of my past students had learning disabilities, such as Dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, or diagnosed as "Slow Learner." Several of these students were being medicated and were repeating at least one grade. I was able to help them with their educational needs. I have an extensive academic background, possessing AA, BA, and MA degrees. I have a reputation for high personal integrity and positive results. All of my students have made significant improvements as I worked with them. In addition to tutoring, I have proctored grade school students in various subjects and adult learners in the GED as well as employment exams. Aaronsmom

I hate to be bored!!! I love fun, but I love learning all at the same time. So I try to make my teaching environment as pleasent and comfortable as ever. I do not like the monotonous flow of words; as it affects the learning experience. At MICO we were always taught to incorporate FUN, that appeals to the individual, in order for them to retain what was actually taught.
I have wanted nothing more, since a child, than to become a teacher. When I graduated from High School, in 2002, I immediately enrolled in our local Community College where I studied for 2 years and earned a Certificate in Early Childhood Education. Wanting a change of environment while I furthered my studies, I applied to and was accepted to one of the top Teacher's Colleges in the Caribbean, The MICO, where I obtained a Diploma in Secondary Education, specializing in Integrated Science, & Remedial Reading.
