My comments on tutoring Government : I have extensive experience teaching government and I have a master's in social studies.

I am an honors graduate of U.S.F. with forty years of teaching experience. In addition to my B.A. and M.A. degrees, I completed all cousework for the ED.D. I have taught FCAT preperation in middle school in math and reading. I have also taught GED Prep in the evenings. I taught junior high math one year. I have also written two books. One is a history jokebook. The other is a memoir of humorous classroom incidents. I believe that these experiences qualify me to tutor social studies, reading, and math.
My style is student centered. I always try to provide a positive atmosphere for learning. My jokes were a technique to help accomplish that goal. As a GED teacher I always began with a pretest and documented student progress to correct any deficiencies. I believe in positive reinforcement and helping students achieve their goals which gives us both a sense of accomplishment.

A Little Bit About Me...

After volunteer tutoring at my daughters’ schools, I was determined to study teaching to have a better understanding of children with special learning needs. As a private college student, I was very motivated to obtain superior grades and I maintained an average G.P.A. of 3.50+ while caring for my children and home. As I began teaching I was involved in extensive professional development courses through each school district I worked. While working with many different teachers I aquired extensive amounts of content knowledge and teaching strategies in elementary education, biology, English, American government, world cultures and economics.
As evidenced by my experiences, I enjoy teaching students on many different ability and grade levels. My students found me to be laid back and understanding with high expectations. I believe each student has a unique gift to offer but it take ... read more

I discovered my love of teaching when I started volunteering as a reading tutor and youth group leader. I am most effective when I work with students in a one-on-one or small group setting, which allows me to focus on individual students’ strengths and challenges. I customize my approach with each student’s particular learning style in mind. My goal is that students understand and learn to think critically and independently, not simply memorize. When I see a child’s eyes light up with understanding and smile at accomplishment, I know I have succeeded in making a difference.
While completing my B.A. in Management at Eckerd, I learned how to write effectively and enhanced my understanding of grammar, mathematics, history, social studies and economics. As a volunteer tutor at a public school and at my church, I began to develop my teaching skills. These rewarding experiences mot ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently employed with the State of Florida and am seeking a part-time position as a Tutor. I've tutored in the past for the SES Program , and currently possess the required Back Ground Screening and Badge. I tutored for 2 years in this Program. In the past I've also tutored privately for families in a variety of subjects ranging from elementary Math and Reading to College Reading and Writing ( as well as specific Major related subjects e.g. Philosophy and Pre-Law Classes such as Normative Theories of Law). I also held a paid position at the college where I earned my AA at the Reading and Writing Lab.
My "style" is flexible to suit the needs of the child. For example: I was assigned a student who was 9 years old to learn cto count to ten, colors, shapes, write her name, the alphabet, and read very simple sentences. The counting posed a serious challenge. She seemed terrifie ... read more
