My greatest teaching philosophy (though I cannot claim it to be original), is "Can't never could!" This is such an important concept, for students as well as their teachers and tutors. Without belief in the student on the part of the teacher or tutor, I feel that a student is more likely to fail. I believe in optimistic approaches and positive reinforcement in the teaching process. This tremendously helps a student succeed. I understand that it is not always possible for a student to gain understanding of a concept in one sitting. Every child should be given opportunities for expansion and growth. I will help every child I work with in every way I can towards their goals. I enjoy working with elementary aged children. I believe that all children want to learn but all have individual styles that an instructor must recognize. You can actually see the "a-ha" factor when a child has processed and understood something. That is my favorite expression. It looks like surprise and joy all in one facial expression. I stoped working in education and now realize that I need to be in a classroom setting working with children. I believe it is my natural calling and I plan to be a memorable instructor/tutor. As an instructional assistant for kindergarden I was responsible for assisting the classroom teacher with daily instrucion and activities. I provided individual instruction when needed and assisted in developing behavior modificaion plans.
