As both a teacher and a counselor I have worked to develop a teaching style that is student focused. In order to do that I want to inspire and challenge the student to reveal their abilities and interests and track them as they develop. The student and I will set specific goal areas with attainable steps, so that we can both check the progress. A Little Bit About Me...

In school I took a class that taught us that everyone learns in a different way. Just like how everyone sees things from different perspectives. After taking that class I realized that there is not just one way to teach or learn. I feel learning should be educational but fun. Repetition is also important. These aspects should all be combined in order to successfully help children learn. I am friendly, easy going, and like to have a good time. Learning does not have to be a chore but can be an exciting experience that a child can enjoy and appreciate. I worry that children think learning is boring and not worth their effort. One good experience can open a child's eyes to the opportunities around them.

My teaching style depends entirely on the student. With patients and flexibility, a teacher can provide a student with the desire to learn on their own. With guidance, that student can remain motivated and willing to seek his or her own answers. It is important to me to impart that desire, because it aids the student in all further endeavors. I also enjoy playing to student’s strengths to motivate them. One example is a young boy who had difficulty counting past eleven. He enjoyed art, and drawing though, and through intertwining the two he grew to enjoy math as well.
