After high school I achieved a BS from George Peabody College for teacher, however did not teach for money until many years later after I received my MS. My work in clinical psychology has been mostly with children, the severely mentally ill, and abuse cases. My last full time position was teaching high school material in a one room school to students who were wards of the state. I taught anger management for the local courts for eight years. Now I teach parenting classes for divorcing couples for the Giles County court. I also occasionally teach a seminar for attorneys on body language.

My experience ranges a great deal and encompasses a lot of subject matter from K-12 Math to English and Literature. My wide range of expertise is indicative of my schooling where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications that exposed me to the Liberal Arts world; while my minor in Industrial and Systems Engineering and Master of Science degree in Information Technology exposed me to more technical subject matter (i.e. various levels of Math). My teaching style changes based on the learning style of my students. Some are more concrete and others are more abstract. I am comfortable teaching at all levels of both the cognitive and affective domains. I enjoy working one on one with students and tailoring lesson plans to help the student get the most out of a class. I typically introduce a concept or principle, describe why the principle is important, provide a variety of illustrations, then let the student try some exercises. I then have the student walk through each of these four categories to make sure they have a thorough understanding of the topic and how it relates to what we have learned in previous lessons.
