I believe teaching is the key to each child's future. When presented with the chance to succeed, I believe each child will. I believe in presenting each child with a verbal and visual explanation of each objective. I then believe that each child needs the chance to complete a task with encouragement and success before independent work. Assessment should only be taken AFTER a child has experienced numerous chances for understanding, practice, and mastery. Flexibility is another thing that many students are not allowed in class, and I believe is very important to success. This is permitted in my classes on an as-needed basis. A Little Bit About Me...

Totally student-centered. I encourage rather than demand. I believe that it is my responsibility to find the teaching method which is most effective for a student to learn. Some learn by doing, some by reading, some by a creative process. The goal is to allow the student to understand and retain the material for his or her later practical application.
I have taught undergraduate courses in Business, Business Law, Marketing, Management, Communications (including public speaking) and most other courses needed for a business degree, such as preparing a business plan or a financial budget. I was Director of the Paralegal Studies Program at Stautzenberger College (Cleveland) which educates students for postitions in the legal field and court reporting. I developed the courses and conducted seminars on federal funding, grants and contracts.

As a high school student, I attended Tiffin University to gain college experience and credit earlier than expected. After graduating from Clyde High school, I went on to Ohio State Mansfield, where I majored in psychology and special education. I am currently a full time student at Ashford University online. I am studying to become an advocate for special needs persons and children. I have been tutoring students professtionally for the past year. I specialize in reading and math. I would say that it is a little more toward laid back. Being over 6" tall, stocky, pushing hard, being an ogre, hard-nosed, that isn't going to work for me. People have a tendency to be a bit intimidated and fearful because of my size. I will use it to my advantage if it is necessary, or becomes necessary, but I've found being a little more quiet, reserved and coaxing the student to initiate the discussion is a little better. Ask leading questions, adjust and proceed, based on their response.
I have received degrees in Int'l Business from Lourdes College, as well an Associates Degree in Accounting from Owens Community College. While with the Ohio Air National Guard, participated in the Mentoring program with Township Elementary, Swanton Local Schools for five(5)-years.
