I was driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education based on my own families background and my own. Because I was overlooked it gave me the desire to help those that seemed mostlikely to not succeed. I earned a bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education while working full time and being a full time mom. I went on to earn my Masters in Education and Psychology/Counseling. I have 17 years in the classroom and 5 years of education to attain this. I still make myself available to help any student who needs it even though I have left the classroom. I have also substituted for 3 years at all grade levels. I have had to write many papers during my educational experience. My students had to write essays as part of their testing and do extensive research to write papers to enhance their experience in the classroom.
All students learn at different levels. I like to incorporate all the learning styles of students. Some learn by hands-on, others by listening, and some by writing. These are all used by me. A Little Bit About Me...

I am very aware that everyone learns at different levels and in different ways. I am observant and mindful of this in teaching. I have worked with children with special needs for many years. Also, teaching ESL has helped me become a strong teacher because it has made me excellent with non verbal communication. It is important to have a stimulating environment for students. My teaching style is flexible. Students learn in different ways and at different paces. It is my job to discover how the students learn and what they respond best to. For some subjects, repetition is very important and for others a clearer understanding of the concepts involved is more valuable. I like to start with small skills and build on them.
I have taught two years of middle school and home schooled my daughter. I have worked as a substitute teacher on and off for several years. My emphasis in college was English and Math so I feel very comfortable teaching either of these subjects as well as reading.
