I greatly enjoy finding a way to inspire a child to understand the problem at hand. Through from my experience in grade school and my observation of students that attend tough schools I've realized the monotonous class schedule and disciplinary philosophy of most schools deflates most student's desire to succeed. While I can relate to this rebellious reaction I also know that it is no excuse for not trying very hard in school because the main path to success as a young adult is a high school diploma with excellent grades. I studied education at Montclair State University for 4 years but I have a always been a teacher. From leadership roles in high school to corporate training, I have a talent for being able to boil subjects down to their basics and provide true understanding. I have tutored Music Theory, Aural Skills, and Music History for two and a half years at Adelphi University. My G.P.A. in Music Theory was a 3.4 and my G.P.A. for Aural Skills was a 4.0. I was recommended by the former Department Chair-Person to tutor a student with special needs. I have also taught lessons primarily for trumpet, but also for tuba, trombone, euphonium, baritone, and French horn. My teaching style could be described as fun, supportive, caring, and disciplined.
