A Little Bit About Me...

I began my teaching experience during college by first working as a teacher’s aide, after which I transitioned into substitute teaching, tutoring and after school care. Eventually I graduated and worked in elementary education as a teacher. I chose to continue my education and become an engineer. Since then, I have continued to volunteer through tutoring, Kiwanis, organizing a math competition for the schools within a five county region (MATHCOUNTS) and occasionally reading for afterschool programs.
Throughout my education experience, I was taught that whole learning is the best form of education. An education is not just gained through books; every life experience is capable of teaching a child. Math can be taught through books, games or even by counting the number of sprinkles on their sundae. As a student attending Florida State University's Civil Engineering program I was required to regularly learn, understand and apply complex mathematical equations, and scientific concepts to both hypothetical and real world problems. I was also required to regularly exercise my grammatical skills through regular lab reports. In regards to tutoring experience, as a high school student attending A.C. Mosley High School during my senior year it was requested by a M.A.P.P.S. (the school's AP program) guidance counselor to assist freshman and sophomore students who came into the office with subjects they were having difficulty with. More recently, as a student at F.S.U. I have lead study groups on an rotation system.
