Calculus II is one of my top subjects! I excel in all math-related topics

I have just finished junior year of high school and will be a senior this fall. Throughout my life I have always been especially good at math. I never fail to get an A in math every year. In 10th grade I decided to skip Pre-Calculus from Algebra 2 to AP Calculus BC when I enter 11th grade. Interestingly, I still found AP Calculus BC to be relatively easy. I am the vice president of a tutor club at La Costa Canyon High School. I teach students after school all subjects. I also tutored students outside of school. During my junior year I tutored a girl in Pre-Algebra who did not understand how graphs work. I also tutored a high-schooler in Pre-Calculus two weeks ago who had a final in two days. I came to his house and tutored him for a total of 15 hours (he needed lots of help) in those two days.
Very patient. Usually I will explain the concept, present a practice problem, ... read more

I don't have one specific teaching style... I believe the style should be developed based on observing how the student learns best. One style would not be successful with all students. I like to spend a couple of weeks trying out methods and seeing which ones work best, then develop a method that specially fits your students learning ability.
I have five plus years experience in tutoring students of all ages in all areas of math. I have tutored in math ranging from pre-algebra to calculus, and I also have experience in working with students with learning disabilities. I enjoy a challenge, and I enjoy helping students to see math in a different light. It does not have to be hard when you can make it fun. Almost all of my students have successfully brought their grades up from D's and F's to A's and B's.

Working with youth from another culture and in a foriegn language forced me to gain strong interpersonal skills, innovative ways to tutor students, and the patience to work with students to achieve their academic goals.
I worked with students from the age of eight to eighteen. Each age group provided its own set of challenges and opportunities to strengthen my experience as a tutor. I love to teach high school students and adults that might be struggling. I know they have the ability to learn but each in a unique way. I am hands-on, patient, kind, laid back and even a little unconventional. My goal is to reach into the students strengths and help them bolster their weaknesses through discovery. I feel that just a few moments of discovery will greatly boost confidence and lead to a better student.
While completing a degree in Survey Engineering I was picked by two professors to teach in their absence and also lead labs. The situations ranged from one-on-one to outdoor labs and from the classroom to small groups. As a manager of engineering departments at four consulting firms opportunities arose to tutor numerous individuals in both classroom and field settings and the topics were applied math involving physics, algebra, calculus and geometry. I love being able to share my knowledge, especially with students who are still in high school. I have learned how to explain math using pictures, words, examples, songs, and many other ways. All students are able to learn, but the process is different for each individual. Once I find out how a student learns best, I am able to create an environment where not only will they like learning, but they will succeed and have confidence.

Where I guide the student to develop and apply the skills that were demonstrated. I feel that encouraging student participation while adapting their unique learning style will help the student take responsibility for learning what they need help on. As an CSU-Pueblo senior engineer student, I know how hard some math classes could be. I have successfully passed all my math courses and I am one more class away to get my minor in it. I have helped students in the last 2 years with their math/Spanish courses. Students needed help in the beginning of the semester due to bad grades, through the semester I helped them to successfully improve their grades and review for every exam.
I love tutoring and working with students. I believe that students are capable to achieve and to learn whatever they need if they put an extra effort in their studies. I have learned that every person has different study habits, some things work for someone and others don't. As a tutor I try to find the appropriate technique to help the student in the subject they are having problems with.

A Little Bit About Me...

When I graduated in 2006, I began an entry level career as a credit analyst. The technical analysis did not bother me, but the lack of social interaction did. I changed careers and joined a private wealth management firm, educating affluent investors as to which investments vehicles best fit their objectives. I have 2 years of experience in giving free public seminars at local libraries and community centers. These seminars cover the basics of investing and financial planning concepts. Preceding this, I have helped my little brother in high school mathematics, something that he struggled with. Similar to my career path, I enjoy using common ground references in education in order to help illustrate otherwise complex concepts.
I enjoy "de-coding" mathematics to those who naturally stuggle with basic concepts from algebra to calculus. I use principles of mathematics in my day-to ... read more
