I am more open to the one-on-one teaching because I believe that this allows that student and the teacher to build a better rapport with one another, therefore the teacher is better able to understand how the student learns and is able to help the student better succeed. This is better for the student as well because he/she now has that one-on-one interaction with the teacher that they are not able to have in a traditional classroom. My first teaching experience was as a high school senior where I was given the opportunity to teach a small group of 5th graders as part of the Missouri A+ program. We began with division, quickly moving into linear and nonlinear algebra, before touching on the fundamentals of complex numbers, graph theory and trigonometry, before concluding with a derivation of the quadratic formula and its applications.
