It is my goal that the efforts of students produce more then just good grades. I assess their needs, the way they think, and what ends they may apply what they’re learning so that I may adapt my teaching style. In this way, I can help students engage in the material in such a way that the knowledge that they receive is important and applicable to their lives now or beyond high school. As a graduate of one of the top state schools in New York, I have always believed in the importance of education. I have a BA in art studio, 2 years of biology/chemistry, and Calculus I&II, which has given me a well rounded education. I have also developed a higher level of writing skills through my research papers and laboratory write-ups. When it comes to teaching or tutoring, I find that it is necessary to craft a pedagogical style that will match the learning style of your student. Each student learns in a different way, whether visually, aurally, kinesthetically, subconsciously, or simply by rote. I find that it is necessary to try each option with all students. I feel that the trouble that many students may have is that they operate differently from the rest of their peers and simply need a different approach to learning material. I find that making the material more interesting is of vast importance as well, and I make learning and retention of information a high priority.
