I am a college student at Coastal Carolina University. Willing to help anyone that needs tutoring. I am a junior studying Biological Chemistry. I am knowledgeable in many different fields besides science. Every subject I've listed I can teach to anyone willing to learn. I am a local from the area so I have a good understanding of the curriculum in the Horry county school system. I am able to teach any (k-12) material. My teaching style is different for every person. I have to asses each individual student find out what their strong and weak points are before they can fully benefit from my tutor sessions. I am easy going, friendly, and honest. My only goal is to teach the material so the student will fully understand, remember, and enjoy what he/she is learning.

The ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills and team leadership: I meet this qualification in such that it was demonstrated while working with the Los Angeles County Probationary Department as well as working with the youth in my church. I would counsel approximately two students per week and meet with about twenty to thirty on a Thursday evening on a volunteer basis for the Los Angeles County Probation Department. I also had an assistance to work with me and we would work together as a team to help develop these young people lives. Of course, this consisted of me working beyond my normal work hours just to be able to reach that student who felt they were completely a “nobody”, for it was more important to meet the student need rather than my own personal need of just wanting to go home. The act of being able to speak one encouraging word to the student was more important to me.

I use very much praise with students. Materials I use are varied. Books are often used. I ask students what they want to do. As a part of after school lessons I check on what students absolutely should do to meet requirements. Contact is made with other people to inform them of progress if needed. I have been teaching many years. I had a desire to teach many ages. As a teacher I desired to teach many subjects. Also I have done after school tutoring for several years. Computers are interesting to me. What I like best is the many things that can be done in after school lessons. I enjoy working on projects with students. Books are always useful. I have taught 29 years in public and private schools. I have home schooled. I have been a teacher evaluator and a mentor of first year teachers. I have been on the Berkeley County Teacher Forum. I have taken many in-services. The last couple I have taken were Math Solutions and Smart Board Notebook. I am Reading Recovery trained. I am working on a dissertation and hope to finish in December. I believe students need to be encouraged by giving them successful experiences. As a special ed. teacher I find that many of my students have experienced failure and it is my job to show them that they can learn and be successful. I believe all students are unique individuals who need a secure, caring, stimulating environment in which to grow and mature.
