As a graduate of a prestigious University, I was challenged to get into the competitive program and motivated to earn a bachelors degree in the field of Graphic Design. I have always had a passion for art and literature. I have always excelled at writing and pushed myself to obtain a Minor in English. I recently graduated from the University of Minnesota, where I earned my BS in Elementary Education. During my education, I had the opportunity to work with many different backgrounds, and in different school subjects. I have a strong understanding in science and math. I currently hold a teaching certification for Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle School Science, for both Minnesota and South Carolina. Currently, I am substituting in the Greenville County Schools.
I enjoy working with all ages. Having a BS in Elementary Education has taught me that all students are different, and need individualized instruction to help them succeed. As I suffered through my younger years with Attention Deficit Disorder, I feel that it is extremely important to appeal to almost all of the senses when teaching. As for myself, I am definitely a visual learner, so I feel that visual aids are important. I am a big fan of hand outs in full color. You will often find me drawing a picture on the board. I feel it is important to hear it and see it, and if you can, touch it. Another important teaching style I implement, is watching my students and making sure they know how to do it. Going around and walking each student through the process and asking them to do what I did really confirms that the student understands what I have taught them.
