A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching and tutoring have been my life's work. Though the majority of my experience is at the college level, I love working with students of all ages. All children have the ability to learn; some need more help than others finding that one pedagogical method that really makes everything "click" for them. I am patient, am able to infuse an element of fun into my tutorials and classes, considerate, and dedicated to my students' success. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a BA in Creative Writing, which I have put to use not only in my writing but I am a proofreader to several other beginning author’s stories. They rely on me to fix their grammatical, spelling and usage errors so their writing flows more smoothly. In reading books I enjoy teaching others the overall theme, morals and observations that the author was trying to convey. I have developed my love for math and statistical formulas by applying what I learned in math classes to enjoy following sports teams stats better. I find that using numbers in several different areas promotes interest and learning.

My teaching style is flexible, depending upon the subject, number and age of students, and the framework of the learning environment. In a tutoring setting, the student's needs are evaluated and methods for meeting these needs are explored and applied. Students differ in learning styles. A combination of teaching approaches allows these differences to be manifested with a view toward reinforced learning through the student’s preferred style and improvement in the use of non-preferred styles. In working with young students, hands-on activities predominate. I enjoy both interacting with students about their experiences and sharing my experiences that relate to the topics at hand.
