After high school I achieved a BS from George Peabody College for teacher, however did not teach for money until many years later after I received my MS. My work in clinical psychology has been mostly with children, the severely mentally ill, and abuse cases. My last full time position was teaching high school material in a one room school to students who were wards of the state. I taught anger management for the local courts for eight years. I graduated Athens State University in 2005 with a BS in Elementary Education (K-6). After graduation, I became a substitute teacher for six months. In 2006 I was hired on by Decatur City Schools. I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade for Decatur City Schools. I am currently employed with Decatur City Schools as an aide. In school I took a class that taught us that everyone learns in a different way. Just like how everyone sees things from different perspectives. After taking that class I realized that there is not just one way to teach or learn. I feel learning should be educational but fun. Repetition is also important.
