I graduated Athens State University in 2005 with a BS in Elementary Education (K-6). After graduation, I became a substitute teacher for six months. In 2006 I was hired on by Decatur City Schools. I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade for Decatur City Schools. I am currently employed with Decatur City Schools as an aide. While tutoring at my college, I received specialized training on identifying and adjusting to different learning styles. I use this knowledge to tailor each session to the needs of the individual student. To track progress, I like to set both short-term and long-term goals and create manageable steps toward reaching these goals. I also think it is important to teach students to establish general study skills so that they can make their own study plans for future courses.

I began to realize my love and aptitude for tutoring as a volunteer Japanese instructor for the Daikin home-stay program in 2006. The next two years I volunteered my time with Rosie's International Services tutoring Spanish. At the beginning of the Spring 2008 semester, the Head of the Foreign Language Department, Dr. Maier, submitted my name to a tutoring department at UAH, where I worked tutoring Spanish, Japanese, Latin, Chinese, and English as a Second Language until I graduated in Spring 2010.
